Clinton, Nancy “Louise” Wilson Naylor, 90, of 2760 Church Road, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at The Landings of Smithfield. John Thomas Barefoot, age 90, of Clinton passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC following a brief illness. John was born June 27, 1932 in Moultrie, GA and was the son of John Wreston and Margaret Fisher Barefoot. John’s family relocated from Georgia to Southeastern North Carolina when he was a young boy and he has resided in Sampson County since that time. We are sad to announce that on December 10, 2022 we had to say goodbye to Betty Lou McCoy of Clinton, North Carolina, born in Marietta, Ohio. He was the son of the late Howard Lathen Royal and Ophelia Jane Herring Royal. He was owner and operator of Sharon’s Diner and former employee/owner of O-Boy-Will boat repair shop. James was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and a member of the Midway Class of 1962. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings William Ollen Royal, Lou Alice Fann and Jackie Hairr. He was the son of the late William Franklin Hobbs and Evelyn Faye Hope Hobbs. He was a truck driver for Foodlion for over 28 years.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, November 14th at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Honeycutt officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 PM – 6 PM, Monday (Nov. 14th) at the home of his son Raymond at 196 Cedar Point Dr., Wallace, NC.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and held several jobs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Richard Holland. R. C., born April 10, 1940 in Sampson County, was the son of the late James Robert Clayton Thigpen and Mary Lou Anders Thigpen. C. Thigpen Heating and Air, Appliance Repair and Mobile Home Supplies. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
